Bulky Slouch Hat Fail

See what I mean, huge hat ugh!

Nice, falls right over the eyes. Who needs to see anyway?

So I wanted to make this hat from Ravelry for my sister to match the cowl I gave her. I used LionBrand Thick and Quick and it knitted up in just 2 evenings. It looked beautiful. I was worried about the little brim because I had never done one before, but it was easy. BUT… you knew that was coming.. it is HUGE. I mean watermelon head huge. I put it on and it falls down over my eyes. I will post a picture tonight when I get home. Any big-headed people out there that want a nice newsboy cap?????

Cabled Hat

So I know I have been MIA for awhile. We took a trip home to see family and then to Salina, Kansas to see the land we bought and make some arrangements to have it fenced in. Along the way, I had to knit...of course. This hat is from a Ravelry pattern the Lemon Curd Hat. I will enclose the link.

The yarn is Yarn B Mimic Pandora. I also found a great yarn store in Salina called Yarns Sold and Told.

This is how we roll!

It is only 33 degrees here today so I made Bella wear her rainbow sweater on our walk. The thing about this is, that Bella hates to wear anything; sweaters, coats, hair bows, harnesses; anything. Anything that is but the covers at nighty night time. She loves that. You would think that she would love a nice , homemade knit sweater. I mean, she sits on my lap every night while I knit. She has a knack for plopping her butt down right on my working yarn and getting all tangled up in it. Anyway, this is how she looks. If anyone wants to make one of these for their doggie, the pattern is free on Ravelry.

Isn't she darling? She is the perfect dog for me. She is like the perfect child, that never grows up. She meets me at the door every night wagging and jumping. She wants to be held and carried around like a little baby all of the time. Since my kids are grown, it is great for me to have my little baby. Anyone that knows me, knows that I am slightly obsessed with her. I have about a million pictures of her in my craft room and take many more photos of her than I do my human kids. And what kind of doggie mama would I be if I didn't have a mother-daughter outfit to wear when we go out. I crocheted a little cowl to match her sweater so everyone knows that we are together, hahaha.

Okay, okay, enough of my gushing about Bella. I'm sorry, I warned you that I might. I just hope that all of you have a pet in your life that brings you as much joy as Bella brings to me. Happy Sunday everyone.

Bulky Eyelet Cowl

Fresh off the needles, this cowl is an original design by me. It knits up very fast and is warm and soft. I used Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick. It takes 2 skeins and the pattern can be found on my Ravelry Page.

I wanted to make a nice, thick, chunky cowl out of some yarn in my stash. I used one skein of Lion Brand Thick and Quick and one skein of very thin, textured yarn I found some time ago at Tuesday Mornings. I held both together and used the seed stitch, thinking this would be very nice. I love the way the colors work together, it is chunky and thick.....but it is very STIFF. It looks like a neck wreath instead of a cowl. Back to the drawing board I guess. I wore it today anyway and maybe I can add a button and kind of fold it over so it doesn't look so wreathish.

I'm on a hat kick.

I am on a hat kick lately. I love how fast they knit up and you can use 1 skein of yarn and use many different designs. This is a yarn from Hobby Lobby and it is great to work with and soft.

My Hubby Wants a WARMER hat

I made my husband a hat to match his new coat, but it wasn't warm enough on the days when it is cold and windy. He wanted it to be a tighter knit. I decided to do a fair isle stitch to give him the added warmth of double the yarn from the yarn carried across the back. This turned out great and I am soooo proud of the way the wrong side looks. It is very uniform, I am not bragging, just happy it turned out that way.
